STATISTICS
Research shows that in the United States loops are present in approximately 65% of the population, followed by whorls with 30%, and finally arches, seen in 5% of the population.
Loops, Arches, and Whorls all are able to be classified in more specific ways, as seen in the classification of prints shown above.
LOOPS:
Ulnar: very common among Americans
Radial: very rare prints
ARCHES:
Plain: uncommon, yet not extremely rare
Tented: very rare on all fingers
WHORLS:
Plain: common
Central Pocket: uncommon print
Double Loop: uncommon print
Accidental: extremely rare
